Use Cases
schedulers have told us they need to accomplish more work in less time..., with a smaller team
Zulu pulls operational and commercial data into the scheduling system helping meet deadlines with data-driven decision tools and optimizers. The schedules are ready to go for each department.
For example, maintenance, crew pairing, slots, fleet assignment, gating and operational needs can be solved very quickly by the scheduling team using Zulu’s optimizer tools, saving a lot of time and work by other departments.
All the tools are in one system, so everything is synchronized and up-to-date for all users as changes are made and easily published.
Learning Slots on a Deadline
”Zulu helped us learn the new system the few days we had to prepare our initial slots submission.”
“It used to take weeks of work. With Zulu we finished in just a few days with compliments from the slot coordinators on the improved quality of our submission.”
Tools for each IATA deadline, ad hoc changes, matching, coordinator communications and 80:20 monitoring are fully integrated with your scheduling and analytics.
Conflicts with Maintenance
“Our scheduling team was frequently conflicting with the maintenance group about regular line maintenance. They spent days changing the rotations to get aircraft into the right bases at the right intervals for maintenance.”
“Zulu set up an optimizer using the maintenance group rules that creates optimal rotations just minutes as we do our scheduling.”
The work was reduced from days to minutes, eliminating the source of conflict with Maintenance and being able to quickly create and check many more schedule scenarios.
Handling Capacity Changes
When you have aircraft mechanical issues or a fleet reduction decision very close-in to the day of operation, it’s a rescheduling crisis.
In Zulu’s optimizer, commercial data and aircraft configurations are used to create a solution that assigns the right type of aircraft to each flight for highest profitability (fleet assignment) or reduce the profit loss (AC down) by up-gauging, down-gauging, re-timing and rotating the schedule.
Value comes from quickly seeing solutions that minimize lost bookings, save on re-accommodation costs and improve passenger convenience.
Work that would typically take an experienced scheduler over a day can be done within an hour.

Network Planning
Network Planning and Forecasting for Optimal Profit
Opportunities – find market opportunities from airline and other data using machine learning (ML) categorization algorithms
Competition – use ML categorization to identify where competitors may be likely to add/remove frequencies or create new/cancel flights.
Capacity Gaps – identify routes that need more/less capacity
Network Revenue – estimate revenue compared to historical periods based on network and competition changes
Optimisation – use FAM and Rotation Optimisation to assist in finding the best solution while leaving the user in control of the process and outcome.
Codeshares
Codeshare partner’s performance and connectivity monitoring tool.
Zulu Codeshare enables the airline and partner schedules to be analysed, adjusted for DEI 10s and DEI 50s and then sent to other systems.
Zulu’s Codeshare module evaluates the partner schedules to assist the user in optimizing the best codeshares.
Passenger connectivity as well as blanket codeshares drive the codeshare process. The system combines both automation and user overrides.
